Imagine Booz Allen Hamilton as a startup. In 1914, on the eve of World War I, a young college graduate in psychology named Edwin G. Booz went into business for himself. He was equipped with a set of new ideas about management.
Ed Booz believed passionately that he could help companies succeed by bringing them a human touch: expert, candid advice and an outside perspective on their businesses. He insisted that “people, not products” were the focus of work. And he knew that placing the right person in the right position with the right support would lead to better results than relying on any particular theory, method, or tool.
With that innovative approach, Ed Booz gave birth to the modern management consulting profession. And to this day, his core belief in finding good talent and embedding it in clients remains an essential quality of the company he founded.
