Alex D’Agostino is a principal in our Joint Defense Agencies account, where he manages a portfolio of work focused on security cooperation, joint force development and modernization, and defense policy and program implementation. His team supports clients including the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the National Defense University, and the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Policy.
With over 34 years in the national security field, including 18 years of experience in defense consulting, Alex is a seasoned expert and program manager overseeing large efforts. He leads a team focused on policy analysis, analytics, decision support, digital transformation, and institutional capacity building to address complex issues of strategic importance for joint force capability and partner-nation capacity development.
Alex also served in the U.S. Army for 30 years in both active and reserve capacities. His experience includes service in the Middle East, South Asia, and Central America, with operational experience in Afghanistan, Kuwait, Iraq, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Upon his retirement, he was awarded the Defense Superior Service Medal for his career service. In addition to his military service, he served in civilian government service in the intelligence community.
His functional expertise includes program and project management, strategic planning, strategic and operational logistics, and defense resource management. He has served in senior operational and advisory roles with foreign partners for counter-narcotics, counter-corruption, and strategic logistics initiatives.
Alex holds several master’s degrees: an M.B.A. and M.A. in public administration from Syracuse University; an M.P.A. from Jacksonville State University; and a master’s in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College. He holds certifications as a project management professional and a defense financial manager with acquisitions specialty. He is a member of the International Institute of Strategic Studies.
