With telework spiking due to COVID-19, IT leaders can hardly be blamed for wanting to accelerate their cloud migration strategies. A sprint to the cloud may seem like a common sense move when faced with the need to empower and engage a suddenly far-flung workforce.
But many organizations rushing to expand their infrastructure for working remotely don’t have the cyber talent and resources necessary to properly implement required security controls. Despite the best of intentions, the benefits of a hastily conducted cloud migration are likely to be outweighed by vulnerable remote access software, poorly secured cloud infrastructure, and an expanded attack surface.
Fortunately, with proper strategy and internal support from leadership teams, it is possible for organizations to safely migrate to the cloud in the current working environment.
