Betsy Carmelite leads Booz Allen’s efforts in cyber-attack surface analysis and reduction, bringing teams of threat intelligence, vulnerability management, and cyber-defense operators together to perform technical assessments to reduce an attacker’s ability to compromise systems. She is based out of our Annapolis Junction, Maryland, office.
Betsy has two decades of intelligence analysis experience in the U.S. intelligence community, Department of Defense, federal government, and commercial spaces. For nearly 15 years, Betsy has worked in cyber-threat analysis, focusing mainly on adversarial cyber capabilities. In recent years, she has expanded her focus to cyber attack surface reduction.
Betsy supplements her cyber expertise with advanced Russian language skills, an essential piece in her team’s cyber support for critical defense missions, including supporting the Pentagon during the Arab Spring uprisings in 2011. Before joining the firm, Betsy worked in diplomatic security for the U.S. Department of State in Tbilisi, Georgia, and at a nonprofit delivering medical supplies to former Soviet countries, where she communicated for years almost entirely in Russian.
Betsy holds an MLitt. in Russian from the University of St Andrews and a B.A. in international politics and Russian from The Pennsylvania State University.
