NEW BOOZ ALLEN SINGAPORE OPERATION WILL FOCUS ON HELPING INTEGRATE ‘SMART NATION’-FOCUSED TECHNOLOGY THAT IMPROVES LIVES AND BUSINESSES
McLean, VA — Global strategy and technology consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH) today announced the opening of a Singapore office that will serve as a hub for the firm’s operations in Southeast Asia. The Singapore launch follows the expansion late last year of the firm’s Middle East North Africa (MENA) Abu Dhabi hub office, from which it serves clients spanning North Africa, the Gulf Cooperation Council States, the Levant and Turkey.
Booz Allen’s expansion in Singapore reflects an appetite throughout the nation and across Southeast Asia to improve productivity and overall quality of life via the use of innovative technologies, according to Booz Allen Hamilton Executive Vice President Mike Jones.
“There’s a tremendous impetus in Singapore, and across the region, to use data analytics to enhance overall efficiency, especially around transportation, energy, health care, and water and waste; reduce costs and resource consumption, and engage more effectively across the public and private sectors,” said Senior Vice President Don Pressley, who oversees the Singapore office. “One example of that is the Government of Singapore’s ongoing Smart Nation program, but it’s something we are seeing across sectors. Booz Allen is leading the way in guiding government and corporate clients across all industry sectors to more effectively access and analyze data for strategic decision making.”
Booz Allen’s Singapore hub initially will be staffed by a small team, with a long term plan to staff up consistent with the firm’s goal of achieving an employee mix that contains a majority of nationals of the country wherein the office is based, Booz Allen said. The firm currently employs more than 22,000 people worldwide.
“Booz Allen Hamilton is very pleased to begin serving clients in Singapore. The nation’s business-friendly operating environment and central location make it an ideal place in which to expand our firm’s global presence,” Jones said. “As we look around the globe we anticipate global growth to increase most rapidly over the next 10 to 20 years across India, China and Southeast Asia due to a burgeoning middle-class. This inherent demand will require investments across the region in government reform, infrastructure, healthcare services, transportation, and advanced manufacturing, all of which are focused capability areas of Booz Allen Hamilton.”
Booz Allen is in the midst of a significant transformation as it advances beyond its 100th anniversary. The firm recently adopted a long-range strategy that adds a new dimension to its management consulting heritage and problem orientation. Called “Vision 2020,” the strategy places strong emphasis on innovation, analytics and engineering, and creates opportunities for the firm to grow beyond its traditional geographic and consulting borders. Booz Allen’s Strategic Innovation Group is at the heart of the firm’s evolution and is a source for its breakthrough ideas such as strategic partnerships with innovators and startup incubators who help government and commercial organizations address large-scale challenges that impact the way people live and work and new products that assist clients in tackling some of their most difficult challenges.
