For a number of years Booz Allen has been proud to sponsor “Star Spangled Baby Showers” hosted by Operation Homefront. This year, for the first time, the firm will sponsor a series of six consecutive showers for new and expecting military moms across the country offering support and baby essentials to military service members in the low- to mid- ranks.
Forty-two percent of active duty military families have children under the age of five. Many military families shoulder the responsibilities of child rearing alone—as the nature of military life often leads them far from their extended families. Operation Homefront’s baby showers offer military moms the opportunity to develop relationships with other military families and learn about educational resources in the area. They also allow a grateful community to help out by equipping military families with essential baby items, helping to ease the financial burden of bringing a new baby into the family.
“Booz Allen is proud to partner with Operation Homefront in support of military families,” said Booz Allen Executive Vice President Laurie Gallo. “This month is National Military Appreciation Month, and this weekend marks both Military Spouse Appreciation Day (May 8) and Mother’s Day (May 10). I can’t think of a better way to celebrate these days than to demonstrate our appreciation to our military moms with these uplifting events. The baby showers are an opportunity to make new moms and dads feel at home in their military community.”
The Star Spangled Baby Showers will be held:
- April 18 – Dayton, OH
- May 2 – Norfolk, VA
- May 3 – Colorado Springs, CO
- May 8 – Washington Metro
- May 15 – Fayetteville, NC
