Working alongside community partners and across geographies with Booz Allen’s Innovation Hub Network, these project teams represent new discoveries at the intersection of design, business, and technology.
VA Mobile – Project Integration and Program Support & Software Quality Assurance (PIPS/SQA) The PIPS and SQA contract support the VA Mobile program to improve veteran access to healthcare using mobile technologies that empower veterans and their providers. This team is pioneering a comprehensive and repeatable strategy for nationally releasing nearly 45 mobile apps over the next few months, including scalable implementation, training, and communications plans.
VA Center for Innovation and VHA Innovations The VA Center for Innovation (VACI) and VHA Innovations funds a diverse portfolio of pilot projects sourced from internal and external crowdsourcing efforts, industry competitions, and strategic partnerships. VACI’s project portfolio extends across the enterprise, from field to high-level program offices. The Booz Allen team provides program management support to ensure VACI’s project selection and funding approach aligns with VA’s strategic objectives and demonstrate long-term financial value.
Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) IT PMO This project team supports FATCA strategic planning, legislative analysis, program management, and IT implementation for IRS, Treasury, and international and commercial markets.
CCG Talent Accelerator This expansion of programs is focused on talent retention, training, and utilization, including onboarding, a commercial and civil accelerator that utilizes staff on the bench, a cohort-based Accelerated Management Consulting Training Program, and a cross-cut of internal/external events highlighting tech initiatives.
Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) The EOIR Legal Case Study project aims to tackle one of the most pressing challenges in the immigration court system: a rapidly growing pending caseload that has already surpassed record levels. The Booz Allen team will develop a workforce staffing model for EOIR headquarters that combines observations from court visits across the country with rich data sets, including records of all immigration proceedings from the past 13 years and a comprehensive time study of all court staff. The model will use available technologies and help the client understand required staffing resources and distribution to achieve their mission of timely case adjudication.
MyFM Career The MyFM Career team is developing a web-based human resources management platform. It streamlines career development for nearly 10,000 military and civilian Air Force Financial Management employees. This cutting-edge solution also tracks resource allocation, anticipates training costs, and will include a succession planning tool for leaders of the workforce. MyFM Career is an ongoing effort that integrates adaptive innovation with traditional change management strategy.
Innovation Services Topics like culture and open innovation are often difficult to quantify. The Innovation Services team is developing a platform that brings quantitative rigor to the development, tracking, and reporting of metrics, with the goal of enabling clients to better meet their innovation goals. This framework will help inform decision making in a clear, objective manner as Booz Allen continues to expand opportunities for innovation and crowdsourcing across the Defense and Civil markets.
Semantic Data Integration The Semantic Data Integration team is using open-source semantic tools to analyze structured and unstructured text that helps NIH manage its portfolio of scientific investments. This integrated infrastructure ingests data from multiple commercial and non-public federal sources, accurately maps scientific concepts from patents through genes, and applies machine reasoning to extract knowledge from general or specific inquiries. The business value of these enterprise data integration and analytics tools is realized in (1) finding emerging leaders in a particular sector, (2) identifying unexpected intersections in current projects, and (3) combining insights from different data such as electronic medical records, scientific publications, gene variants, and clinical trials, to generate actionable hypotheses.
NextGen Analytics The NextGen Analytics team is advancing its software application portfolio through new releases in the market, including products like Polaris™, Argo™, Helios™, and Summit. These desktop and web-based products help clients improve their analytical decision making using real-time, responsive simulation capabilities.
Health Data ScienceThe Health Data Science team is partnered with MedStar Health Institute for Innovation to develop data science capabilities for improving patient safety, quality of care, and outcomes. The team is developing solutions to utilize, monitor, and secure patient data for algorithm development, application development, and application deployment.
Marine Corps Predictive Readiness Model This predictive readiness tool establishes a repeatable, weighted methodology for accurately capturing the relationship between funding and resources, using advanced data analytics and data science techniques.
GSA-Integrated Award Environment The GSA Integrated Award Environment team is transforming federal award management systems by developing a cloud-based common services platform. The secure platform supports modernization of 12 siloed applications into a single umbrella of integrated microservices to provide a universal user experience for federal contract and assistance management.
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid: Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative (TCPI) The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative is a large-scale quality improvement initiative to support more than 140,000 practices during the next 4 years. Booz Allen uses DevOps software to build a central Data Hub that collects, aggregates, and attributes data from a range of stakeholders and sources, and generates standardized and user-friendly reports and dashboards.
Treasury OCIO Dashboard as a Service This intuitive web interface with a narrative storytelling context, and best-in-class dashboard tools like Tableau creates a clean, interactive experience. The team will scale Drupal-based platform functionality and build a viable business model for a shared service or stand-alone capability.
FDA Rapid The Food and Drug Administration’s robust RAPID communications system supports its Medical Countermeasures Initiative (MCMi), which uses mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets to provide emergency response of medical products during emergent health situations. This mobile app supports three essential use cases: (1) pharmacovigilance AE signal detection, (2) risk evaluation and mitigation strategies, and (3) medication error data capture and identification. Each of these scenarios leverages multiple cloud hosting environments using AWS GovCloud.
Enterprise Mobile Application Management Clients like the Defense Information Systems Agency are seeking ways to develop and deploy mobile applications that meet business timelines and security requirements. This team is using service design to architect and develop Enterprise Mobile Application Management, a transformative mobile technology capable of rapid development via code assurance libraries and mobile backend as a service (MBaaS) for security vetting and management.
FunMAP: Organization Design Tool Sets and Process Integration This team is redeveloping the Functional Manpower Alignment Prioritization Tool (FunMAP) to become a client-friendly web application that links all aspects of the organization design process map activities to justify manpower to tasks, roles, and responsibilities.
Engineering & Science Knowledge Exchange Tool In an alignment with the firm’s knowledge management initiative, this team is creating a web-based user interface that communicates to users the firm’s engineering and science capabilities and facilities information, as well as respective intellectual capital in order to better respond to RFPs and RFIs.
Automotive Information Sharing and Analysis Center (Auto-ISAC)The Auto-ISAC team manages the central industry hub communicating cyber threats and vehicle vulnerabilities to companies representing 98% of vehicles on the road in the U.S. Booz Allen manages several organizational elements, including governance and functional committee meetings, global stakeholder engagement, and public outreach initiatives. The team also provides specialized intelligence analyst expertise, using real-time research and reporting to facilitate cybersecurity information sharing.
