Eager to work on something truly innovative? We can offer you an opportunity to work with District Defend®–our new product in the marketplace. Conceived and developed in-house, District Defend is a secure mobility hardware platform that dynamically alters device configuration and data access based on locations, or “districts,” enabling secure enterprise workforce and cross-domain mobility without compromise. It allows our federal clients to control mobile capabilities, making work lives more flexible while staying secure.
Supporting District Defend is a team of curious tech and client-facing pioneers whose job is to envision and create the future of secure mobility. Why join them?
1. It’s a high-profile project
District Defend is Booz Allen’s first physical product, and nothing like it exists anywhere else. “What we’re building is uniquely different,” says Customer Engagement Manager Trevor Fletcher. “We have strong leadership buy-in and get to push technical boundaries, and so we have an edge on our competition.” Adds Delivery Manager Mike Stone, “Booz Allen gave our team lots of exposure internally and externally. Now that we’ve gone public with District Defend, people are really noticing this product and the people who are working to make it successful.”
2. There’s a start-up mentality
Technical Director Jason Myers jokes that, much like actual tech start-ups, many nights and weekends were spent in “Uncle Booz’s garage” strategizing, developing, and building District Defend. And the start-up mentality remains. “We’re building a product, so our work is very different from the rest of Booz Allen,” says Trevor, “but we’re supported by the entire company. If District Defend is like a start-up, Booz Allen is our venture capitalist. We have the company’s support, they invested in us, and now it’s about executing and delivering.”
3. The Team is Diverse
Split into development and deployment sub teams, District Defend teammates specialize in everything from cutting-edge technology to supporting our clients. “Our development team touches every part of the tech stack,” says Jason. “And our deployment team provides real-time feedback from our clients,” adds Mike. “For us, having a diverse team allows people to grow, find new areas of interest, and work with some of smartest people in the industry,” says Jason.
4. You’ll Change Lives, Including Your Own
District Defend has a direct impact on the people using it. “There’s a very real human element to District Defend,” Jason affirms. “It brings flexibility and safety to our clients’ work lives.” It also reminds its developers that anything is possible at Booz Allen. “You can do everything and anything here,” says Jason. “District Defend is proof of that. I always encourage everyone to share their big ideas. When they do, our organization grows, and we’re able to further our mission to change the world.”
