How Booz Allen Engineers Defense Innovation

Lorton Engineering Facility

Strategically located near Fort Belvoir, Marine Corps Base Quantico, and the Pentagon, this 24,000-square-foot facility is a hub for rapid prototyping, integration, and testing of advanced systems—from drones and robotics to warfighter wearables. It houses specialized labs for AI, autonomy, cyber, materials science, and soldier performance, enabling the development of tools like body-worn intelligent warfighter systems and tactical autonomy platforms. It also supports hands-on integration of the Android TAK, giving soldiers secure, mobile access to a common operational picture in the field.

Pax River Engineering Facility

In Southern Maryland, this 20,000-square-foot space is optimized for rapid development and rigorous testing of new capabilities—especially those purposefully built for aircraft and vehicles. The facility supports a wide range of testing, with climate-controlled chambers that simulate extreme weather, radio frequency equipment to evaluate signal performance, and a large open bay for installing and configuring vehicle systems. It also plays a critical role in testing autonomous navigation and communications tools.

Panama City Beach Engineering and Manufacturing Facility

In Florida, Booz Allen’s largest engineering site focuses on transforming early concepts into durable, scalable hardware. At 51,000 square feet, the facility combines advanced manufacturing equipment, heavy-duty fabrication tools, and a multidisciplinary engineering team to design, build, and test complex systems—all under one roof. Its capabilities span electronics, ocean engineering, and structural engineering, supporting the development of mission-ready tech.

Booz Allen is developing a new generation of mission-ready technology to support warfighters—designed for speed, flexibility, and field performance. And it’s our engineering and manufacturing footprint that turns this vision into reality. Because in today’s defense landscape, innovation alone isn’t enough. Speed, reliability, and real-world readiness are what matter most—and that’s exactly what our network delivers.
