Convergence for a New Era

Booz Allen joined the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, industry, academia, and other joint and coalition partners at Project Convergence 2022 (PC22), the Army’s exercise for the Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) initiative. JADC2 is of the utmost importance to the Department of Defense (DOD), but the question is—how do we make it a reality?

Through Project Convergence, the Army worked to further the success of ground-breaking capabilities by conducting live testing with partners on the ground. Notably for 2022, this was the first time international partners attended the exercise, allowing the Army to work hand in hand with U.S. allies to solve the most pressing JADC2 challenges.

Booz Allen was on the ground with the Army and Air Force to showcase the Modular Detachment Kit (MDK), a game-changing solution. Built by Booz Allen, this fully operational multi-domain integration agent for tactical command and control (C2) provides holistic integration of disparate C2 data systems and bridges the gap between 20th and 21st century technologies.

To achieve decision advantage, DOD can’t wait any longer to integrate vital JADC2 solutions. At PC22, Booz Allen teams demonstrated how the U.S. is staying one step ahead through:

1. Joint All-Domain Connectivity—Integrating capabilities from across the services and industry to improve battlefield situational awareness, connect sensors with shooters, and accelerate the decision-making timeline.
2. Cross-Domain Edge C2—Providing the flexible, agnostic edge C2 solution to accelerate JADC2. Booz Allen’s solutions enable disaggregated C2 and deliver cross-domain network integration, fires, and air pictures at the tactical edge. These solutions are fully adaptable for future joint engagements and requirements.
3. System Maturity—Delivering systems that are mature and fully operational now to meet the need at the edge, where the fight is.

While on the ground, Booz Allen worked Army and Air Force networks for live testing, showcasing in real time how to bridge multiple data systems between services. The technology activated during these scenarios provided technologists with a high-impact opportunity to partner with the Army on its research and development efforts and helped pave the way to bring the warfighting systems of the future to life.

Currently, warfighters lack a rapidly deployable, survivable, and scalable command and control system at the edge, experience difficulties with inter- and intra-service connectivity, and have challenges operating in resource-constrained environments. Booz Allen’s mission systems are designed to change that. By having the opportunity to work directly with partners at PC22, Booz Allen technologists were able to bring mission systems to life through real-world experimentation, demonstrating the ability to support an expanded range of data and communications standards for coalition and joint interoperability—and assuring success in the future battlespace.
