Booz Allen’s work in Fayetteville is largely focused on the military and solutions for the warfighter. In order to set themselves up for success, soldiers need remote access to online training. Helping soldiers get the information they need from their phones and laptops exponentially increases their opportunities to hone their skills in support of the mission.
Enter Blackboard, a digital learning management system Booz Allen uses to facilitate online courses, annual academic curriculum, and interactive training that improves soldiers’ skills in activities like combat vehicle recognition. Aaron Chase, a Booz Allen learning systems specialist and instructional designer, works closely with the XVIII Airborne Corps. A former Air Force education and training specialist, Aaron uses gaming technology and a virtual training environment called Virtual Battlespace 3 to design and implement online training for land, sea, and air mission rehearsals. The interface may look like a video game, but the real-life applications are invaluable. With 3D modeling, soldiers can safely experiment with virtual replicas of battlefield tools using their desktop computer, tablet, or mobile device.
