When Booz Allen assumed responsibility for modernizing this platform, we identified a core challenge: data inconsistency. Labs used different systems, vocabulary, and reporting structures—making it difficult to compare results, detect cross-jurisdiction trends, or quickly identify emerging synthetic substances. 

Our Approach

We started by addressing the foundation: data standardization. Booz Allen engineers worked closely with government partners to introduce dual pathways for harmonization: 

  • Upstream Standardization: Helping laboratories map their data to shared schema and controlled vocabulary.
