Can Your Body Be Hacked?
9:30 am-10:30 am
SESSION DETAILS SESSION DETAILS

At the intersection of medicine, innovation and technology stands cybersecurity. The rise of connected medical devices represents significant innovations in patient care which face an unprecedented and diverse set of threats. As soon as a medical device is connected in some way – either wirelessly or wired – the medical device becomes easier to disrupt, and the potential disruption much more severe. There is an emerging need for cybersecurity and public health professionals to work together as we combat vulnerable channels to our biological data and get ahead of cyber bioterrorism. The medical device ecosystem is at a critical moment where strong leadership across industry, government and public is needed—join us as we discuss cyber health preparedness for a secure connected future.

Speakers:

  • Jeff Tully, Anesthesiologist + Hacker, UC Davis Medical Center
  • Dr. Aftin Ross, Senior Scientist, Center for Devices and Radiological Health, FDA

Code War: Defense in the Age of AI
11:00 am – 12:00 pm
SESSION DETAILS SESSION DETAILS

Artificial intelligence is dramatically changing the way we work, live, and interact. In no other areas do AI applications have the potential for greater impact, than within the domains of national security and defense. As the U.S. Department of Defense moves swiftly to “harness the potential of AI,” it is also racing against the clock to chart a course for its use in a way that aligns with American and democratic values. Join our futurists as they discuss the moral, ethical, and legal challenges presented by AI technologies and how the DoD’s doctrinal and engineering-based legacy is providing a foundation for the principled use and scale of AI applications.

Speakers:

  • General John Murray, Commander, Army Futures Command
  • Horacio Rozanski, CEO, Booz Allen

Defining Human Emotions: AI’s Next Level
2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
SESSION DETAILS SESSION DETAILS

Artificial Intelligence is defined by algorithms and mathematics whereas human emotion, in contrast, is subjective and difficult to define. Looking into the future, your personal robot will be able to sense your mood and either record symptoms of depression or trigger products to fill your fun tank. How will it know the difference? As artificial emotional intelligence capabilities evolve, the race to decode and define emotion is becoming increasingly central to the understanding and management of this technology. Anticipating the next wave of exploration, codifying human emotion will be essential to AI’s ability to recognize our feelings, predict our behavior and, eventually, influence human patterns. Join us as we examine and define the future of our feelings in an artificial reality.

Speakers:

  • Mark Sagar, PH.D, CEO Soul Machines
  • Steve Escaravage, SVP, Booz Allen
  • Seth Colaner, AI Editor, Venture Beat
  • Cortnie Abercrombie, CEO and Founder, AI Truth

Democratization of Space
3:30 pm – 4:30 pm
SESSION DETAILS SESSION DETAILS

The potential of space has us all wanting access to the realm once reserved only for government agencies. Up until now, space agencies required massive resources to engineer cutting-edge technology to launch ships – and the human imagination – into the stars. Today, modern tech advances have allowed for us all to tap into this new domain. A student in Samoa or an amateur astronomer in Milwaukee can call up satellite imagery, purchase satellite time for research, or pay $100,000 for a CubeSat that previously cost millions. Join us as we examine the changing role of government as the former gatekeeper, the burgeoning private-sector space race, and the implications for the commercialization of space.

Speakers:

  • Miriam Kramer, Space Reporter, Axios
  • Ellen Stofan, Director, Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum
  • Maj. Gen. Stephen N. Whiting, Deputy Commander, United States Space Force
  • Trey Obering, Executive Vice President, Booz Allen
