The Future of Artificial Intelligence for National Security
October 3, 7:45 – 8:45 a.m.

Defense leaders stand at the brink of dramatic change in the ways they fight wars and manage geopolitical landscapes, raising a host of new ethical issues. Today, Artificial Intelligence offers capabilities we could not have imagined – helping us comb through mountains of data more efficiently, making decisions that are more data-driven and informed, and offering autonomous vehicles that reduce dangers. National security leaders must consider the promise and potential of these new capabilities – what can be addressed with AI and what requires human management.

  • Anthony Robbins, NVIDIA, VP North America
  • Derek Strausbaugh, Microsoft Federal Chief Digital Lead for DoD
  • Discussion Leader: Josh Sullivan, Booz Allen Leader
Innovating the Government Experience
October 3, 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.

The average American spends 10 hours a day in front of a screen…a laptop, a tablet or a mobile phone. We have rapidly grown accustomed to ordering our groceries, summoning taxis and planning vacations with a few clicks. We expect to engage with the Federal Government with the same ease. With the recently published President’s Management Agenda, the White House has directed federal agencies to modernize their technology system and treat the citizen as a customer.  This discussion, led by government technologists, taught us how they are working to make .gov websites as appealing to use as the best consumer websites.

  • Gundeep Ahluwalia, CIO at the Department of Labor
  • Harrison Smith, Deputy Chief Procurement Officer, Internal Revenue Service
  • Discussion Leader: Kristine Martin Anderson, Booz Allen Leader
The Lifeblood of Modernity: Position Navigation and Timing
October 4, 7:45 – 8:45 a.m.

Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) underpins the infrastructure that drives our modern society. Common conveniences such as cellular communications, electricity, and emergency services are critically dependent on PNT technologies. Both the stability of our society, and continued technological advancement depend on our ability to reliably secure access to PNT information. In this discussion, we learned what securing PNT means for government leaders, commercial leaders, and all of us as citizens.

  • Greg Gutt, CEO, Satelles
  • Dr. Brian Teeple, DoD, DCIO for Command, Control, Communications and Computers
  • Drew Morin, T-mobile, Director, Federal Cyber Security Technology and Engineering Programs
  • Discussion Leader: Kevin Coggins, Booz Allen Leader
The Next Frontier of Immersive Innovation
October 4, 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.

We can create digital environments for humans to experience the impossible. Through a mix of data science, machine intelligence, and creativity, virtual and augmented reality offers the opportunity to train and plan in a safe environment—without consequences. From battlefield simulations to health and civil scenarios, this technology better prepares teams for successful missions. This session brought together leaders from the gaming and virtual reality community for an immersive show and tell.
