Lauren Pittenger leads Booz Allen’s life sciences work at the Food and Drug Administration. She excels at applying her training as a microbiologist and her years of laboratory experience to help scientists understand and implement process improvements that will allow their labs to operate more safely and efficiently. Lauren also supports strategic planning, training, continuity of operations programs, and scientific IT systems integration. Her support helps groups across federal agencies work together to strengthen the public health system.
Prior to joining Booz Allen, Lauren worked at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Research Service doing laboratory research on the genetic mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance in foodborne pathogens. During her time at the USDA, she also authored several articles published in peer-reviewed journals.
Lauren attended the University of Georgia, where she earned a B.S. in biology and ecology, an M.S. in infectious diseases, an M.B.A., and a Ph.D. in food science and technology. She also is certified as a project management professional and as a change management advanced practitioner from Georgetown University.
