As head of Booz Allen’s leadership and executive services team, Ruth Almen drives programs to identify, develop, and advance a pipeline of high-potential leaders for critical future roles at the firm. Using executive talent planning, leadership experiences, and innovative development solutions, Ruth is helping Booz Allen equip a new generation of purpose-driven senior leaders with the skills and mindsets needed to solve tomorrow’s greatest challenges.
Ruth has more than 15 years of experience in leadership development and learning at large, global companies. She serves as a strategic advisor for a variety of Booz Allen’s leadership-focused initiatives, programs, and processes, including early emerging leader identification, efforts to increase objectivity in talent planning, and using data-driven insights to maximize the impact of the firm’s leadership and executive services function.
Ruth and the teams she’s led have earned two awards from the Association for Talent Development—an Excellence in Practice Award in 2018 and a BEST Award in 2021. Ruth is a contributing author to Forward-Focused Learning: Inside Award-Winning Organizations, published in 2020.
Prior to joining Booz Allen, Ruth served as head of global leadership development for 3M, leading a team responsible for high-potential leadership development from the C-suite to the frontlines. Her role there included leading efforts in leadership coaching, instructional design strategy, and global onboarding and mentoring.
Ruth holds a B.S. and an M.S. in human resource development from the University of Minnesota.
