Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH) today announced that Robert F. Hale, former Department of Defense Comptroller, has been selected as a Booz Allen Fellow and will serve as an advisor to the firm. The Booz Allen Fellows program recognizes the highest level of achievement and impact, denoting the absolute best in industry and at Booz Allen.
Executive Vice President Jack Mayer said, “Booz Allen Hamilton Fellows represent those who are the highest caliber experts in their fields. Bob Hale possesses all of the outstanding professional credentials, national and international stature, and the differentiating capabilities that we seek in a Fellow.
Prior to joining Booz Allen, Hale served more than five years as Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller). In that role he acted as the principal advisor to three Secretaries of Defense on all budgetary and fiscal matters, including the development and execution of the Defense Department’s annual budget of more than $600 billion. As Chief Financial Officer, Hale oversaw the Department’s response to the 2013 sequestration and government shutdown and supervised the Department’s financial policy and financial management systems.
At the time of his nomination by President Barack Obama in January 2009, Hale was Executive Director of the American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC)—the professional association of Defense financial managers. For three-and-a-half years, Hale led the society's certification program (the Certified Defense Financial Manager program), as well as training programs, a professional journal, and other activities. From 1994 to 2001 Hale served in the Clinton Administration as the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Financial Management and Comptroller) and oversaw that service’s budget and financial activities.
Hale graduated with honors from Stanford University with a B.S. in mathematics and statistics. He also holds a Master’s degree in operations research from Stanford, and an MBA from the George Washington University. Hale is a Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM), a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration, and a past member of the Defense Business Board. He will serve at Booz Allen as a Senior Executive Advisor.
