McLean, VA — Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH) today announced that Vice President Dr. Allan Steinhardt has been selected as a Booz Allen Fellow, part of a firm-wide program designed to recognize and showcase industry thought leaders within the firm.
Dr. Steinhardt is among the world’s most widely recognized and respected defense scientists, and is sought for his technical expertise as well as for his experience in crafting successful program concepts and strategies. At Booz Allen, Steinhardt leads a team of scientists, engineers, and mathematicians in providing prototyping, portfolio analysis, technology roadmaps, and innovation services to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, including DARPA, DTRA, and DDR&E. Steinhardt and his colleagues collaborate with the Office of the Secretary of Defense in developing innovative solutions in a variety of domains.
Dr. Steinhardt has published over 200 articles in academic and defense strategy journals. He also co-authored a book on Adaptive Radar with Simon Haykin. His work on Householder algorithms has been cited over 200 times in peer reviewed research journals. Steinhardt has held various leadership positions in the IEEE, most recently as two-term Chair of the prestigious “IEEE Dennis J. Pickard Medal for Radar Technologies and Applications” Award Committee.
As a Booz Allen Fellow, Steinhardt will operate across markets as a firm-wide resource, serving the firm’s research and development and science-related clients. He will also continue to play a lead role in the firm’s Science Functional Community.

Prior to joining Booz Allen, Steinhardt held positions in National Laboratories (MIT Lincoln Laboratory, Radar Group), the Prime Contractor Defense Industry (BAE Systems), and academia (Cornell University, Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering and Applied Mathematics). He earned a Bachelor degree in Mathematics, and graduate degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Steinhardt is a member of the National Academies' Naval Studies Board, the board of the Armed Forces Communications Electronics Association, and is a regional judge for the FIRST robotics competition.
