Analyzing massive amounts of data sets is no easy task. We asked Kristy G., financial intel analyst, how she’s helping to make a difference in the intel space and why Booz Allen is the place to do it.
How did you get started in your field?
I think I fell in love with finance right around the time I figured out it was just a big puzzle with an important mission: “Here’s all this data—from a whole bunch of different places—and your job is to sort through all that stuff and find a bunch of bad guys.” I was hooked. Now, I’ve spent 4 years focused on finance full-time and hold the Financial Crimes Specialist (CFCS) and Anti-Money Laundering (CAMS) certifications.
What encouraged you to join Booz Allen and what makes you stay?
I came to Booz Allen after being a teacher for 5 years. I wanted to find a place that would grow alongside me—and to work with people who were driven, smart, and ethical, and wanted to change the world. Those are the same reasons I stay. I knew Booz Allen was the right choice from day one.
How has Booz Allen empowered you and your career?
Booz Allen continuously empowers me and my career by allowing growth in any direction our joint interests allow for. If I am ready for something new—and Booz Allen has an opportunity to place me in a client site or against a mission focused on it—then I get to do it. That simple freedom to grow has allowed me to continuously re-invent who I am and what I do for this company. And my country.
What kind of support do you get from your team and leadership?
My teams, my leadership—everyone I encountered along the way—had a profound impact on my career. I also work closely with my career manager, who hired me into the firm. He’s expertly advised me how to navigate and allowed me to pivot in my interests and change my career aspirations along the way. That's another thing that keeps me at Booz Allen. I’ve always felt like I have a network who is interested in my success. Our people are our greatest asset, and that’s what makes us the best.
