At some firms, “teamwork” and “collaboration” are recited buzzwords instead of principles that employees live and breathe. Not here. Bringing people together to solve problems is the backbone and heartbeat of Booz Allen.
“We’re doing so many things that really make a difference in the mission of our clients,” says Jason Tone, director of Navy/Marine Corps Fleet line of business. “Collaboration makes us better—it pushes us to bring our best game.” Karissa Krause, software development test engineer, agrees. “We really care about what we do. And we do it together—even when we’re breaking out of an escape room.”
Breaking out of an escape room may seem unusual—but so is Norfolk. Which is why Norfolk embraces our Propel program, a unique series of employee events designed to encourage teamwork.
Each Propel activity focuses on working (well, playing) together outside the office. The connections forged at these events make our work even stronger, which translates to career progression and client success.
We bring bold thinking to everything we do—including the treetop obstacle course at a nearby park, which includes tightrope walking, skateboarding, and trust exercises 40 feet in the air. (Gulp.)
At a local paint bar, Norfolk employees create paintings that are beautiful and paintings that … aren’t. The real work of art is finding joy in the pursuit.
A locked door. A ticking clock. A common goal. To exercise problem-solving skills, teams combine diverse perspectives and resources to unlock an escape room—together.
A local event-planning company leads a fast and furious digital race through town as we collect clues, solve puzzles, and always do right by ourselves and each other.
Volunteering with the Special Olympics, the American Cancer Society, and other groups isn’t a special event here: It’s a passion that’s fundamental to everything we do.
Booz Allen and programs like Propel encourage us to go beyond water-cooler small talk, helping us exercise our values, collaborate, and grow. We’re serious about empowering people to change the world—starting right here in Norfolk.
