Anyone who thinks you have to compromise career and culture for small-town living hasn’t visited us in Rome, New York.
“We’re 4 hours from New York City and Boston, surrounded by mountains, in an office that feels like family,” says Paul Deceglie, a cyber threat analyst. Karen Roth, senior lead technologist, agrees. “You have access to great public schools and a friendly community without having to live where you can’t afford. My paycheck isn’t going to a mortgage.”
Quality of life is just part of the equation—Paul sums up the rest: “Our work protects everything.” Tiffany DeFraine, senior research analyst, gives more detail. “We create new mobile technology for the warfighter. We do ground surveillance work, data analysis, cyber, information assurance, and software development.”
Lindsey Mohr, who oversees a team of cybersecurity and test engineers, adds, “We’re a collaborative office. Everyone gets heard and we’re pushed to solve problems for our warfighters. We come out of meetings with a new vision. And then we get to make it happen.”
That vision is strengthened by a company that knows the value of empowering people. “The thing that’s so special about Booz Allen is the support,” says Paul. “You get to work on different projects with smart people. No one’s left hanging. You have to have initiative, but if you show ambition people will notice.”
