Matt Erskine works with clients across the Federal Government to transform organizations and improve performance. Matt has more than 20 years of experience guiding innovative and transformative change in the public and private sectors, leading organizations and teams, creating relationships with diverse stakeholders, and advising senior executives.
Before joining Booz Allen, Matt was acting assistant secretary and deputy assistant secretary at the U.S. Department of Commerce, where he was a key member of the Secretary’s senior leadership team responsible for strategy and operations and helped lead organizational transformation to improve return on investment. Matt built extensive relationships and innovative partnerships across multiple agencies and with leaders in business, higher education, and the nonprofit sector. While at Commerce, Matt was selected as one of 23 senior executives from across the Federal Government for the President’s Leadership Workshop and was awarded special recognition from the International Economic Development Council for leadership in the economic development profession.
Prior to his position at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Matt was executive director of the Greater Washington Initiative, the private-public economic development, strategic marketing, and research organization for the greater Washington, DC, metropolitan region. He also led numerous economic development and business growth initiatives as deputy secretary of commerce and trade for the governor of Virginia. Matt’s professional experience also includes business strategy and operations consulting for commercial, public sector, and nonprofit clients.
Matt earned his bachelor’s degree as an Echols Scholar at the University of Virginia and his M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.
