I had a mentor early in my career who provided this wisdom, which is still relevant today:
- Be on time—it shows respect.
- Be present—if you’re distracted, you may miss something. We all think we can multitask, but most aren’t very good at it. My current incarnation of this idea is: “Screens down.” If you have something more pressing, it's only fair to others to excuse yourself.
- Be passionate—if you love what you’re doing, it shows. No one wants to go through the motions, and if they do, others see right through it.
