Recent research and analysis of 11 federal leaders and agencies revealed that most successful leaders use several similar leadership and management techniques, whereas those who have been unsuccessful don’t. Booz Allen Hamilton offers to perform a diagnostic of your agency, program, or office to see if your agency is using the techniques employed by those successful leaders—and avoiding the mistakes made by those who were unsuccessful.
We will evaluate whether you and your agency are using to best advantage the 12 leadership and management techniques that most differentiate successful from unsuccessful public executives and agencies. For each technique, we will gather data and apply the same criteria to your agency that we used in our research entitled “What It Takes to Change Government.” Then, in an oral report, we will share with you any differences between the methods you use and those used by successful leaders. We will also outline any recommended opportunities for improvement. For example, we will review your agency’s communications with interest groups, customers, and stakeholders to see whether your agency is proactive, if it spends the right amount of time with external groups, and if it is using the methods found to be most important to the success of leaders in our research.
Over the course of 2 days, our team of three analysts will meet with your agency’s leader, with members of your team, and—with your permission—we may meet with outside stakeholders. We’ll also ask for your strategic plans, performance reports, budgets, and other documents that can help us understand your strengths and areas of opportunity. The diagnostic is priced at a level ($5,000) such that it can be requested using a purchase order or purchase card and conducted within one week following your request.
Where you and your agency are already using the techniques of successful leaders, we’ll suggest you continue doing so. Where you aren’t, we’ll describe that, tell you what the impacts of continuing to do so might be, and suggest how to change.
Fill out the form below to receive more information on What it Takes to Change Government. Please be prepared to commit to a 2-day period when you and your agency’s leaders can be available to participate in the diagnostic.
