Mission Integration at Booz Allen
Federal agencies today often share overlapping mission responsibilities, not just with each other, but increasingly with other public and private entities. Civilian and military agencies operate in open, distributed environments characterized by greater integration and interdependency among diverse sets of players, tackling complex mission challenges in such areas as disease control, disaster response, environmental protection, law enforcement, counter terrorism, intelligence gathering and stability operations. These joint-mission responsibilities require new organizational and operating strategies that enable Mission Integration—the ability to collaborate and work closely with mission partners.
Whole-of-Government Thought Leadership
Booz Allen Hamilton believes that increasingly the US Government will apply a whole-of-government approach to address complex missions, and that agencies and leaders must be prepared to integrate policies, budgets, people/culture, technology and management in order to be effective. Currently, our Thought Leadership around mission integration is being applied in four key areas of national interest:
Working with government leaders to address Mission Integration challenges, Booz Allen Hamilton has developed tools and solutions that help agencies reach across organizational, jurisdictional and geographical boundaries to operate more effectively with their partners. We help agencies:
- Identify, convene, and support the “megacommunity” of public- and private-sector organizations that have a mutual interest in addressing shared problems and concerns;
- Analyze the full spectrum of organizational issues within an agency that impact Mission Integration, such as policy and strategy, operations, management and budgeting, information technology, and leadership, people and culture;
- Develop holistic solutions that strengthen all aspects of Mission Integration—from processes and technology to culture and leadership—within an agency.
Mission Integration enables multifaceted, multiagency solutions to address today’s complex national and global challenges. It’s a new strategy for a new century.
