Booz Allen Participating in 2008 World Economic Forum on the Middle East
Trends and opportunities in Egypt’s travel and tourism industry will be a key area of discussion for Booz Allen experts.
Seven of Booz Allen Hamilton’s top leaders will take part in a World Economic Forum (WEF) regional meeting in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, from May 18-20, 2008. The meeting, which is expected to attract more than 1,500 participants, including 55 key heads of state and government, leading business figures, ministers, and leaders from civil society and the media, is held in partnership with the Government of Egypt.
The meeting’s theme is “Learning from the Future” and it includes a series of futuristic scenarios that explore the impact of long-term global trends on the Middle East. It is designed to highlight the actions that need to be taken today to meet the challenges and opportunities in the region over the next 20 years.
Egypt’s Travel and Tourism Industry
Booz Allen has played a prominent role in developing the “Destination Middle East – Sustainable Tourism for 2025” scenario series. A team led by vice presidents Jürgen Ringbeck, Fadi Majdalani, and Nabih Maroun worked with the WEF to develop this public panel, which will examine what the travel and tourism industry will look like in 20 years and what it will have to do in order to get to that stage.
In addition, the firm will play a key role in a private meeting about Egypt’s travel and tourism industry entitled, “Creating the Egyptian Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Council.” Booz Allen has been the strategic partner for the WEF’s Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report, an in-depth analysis of the travel and tourism competitiveness of economies around the world. This private meeting will examine the results of the overall study and specific results regarding Egypt and will explore next steps, including the formation of an Egyptian Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Council.
The Palestinian Economy
Vice president Don Pressley will attend a panel on the Palestinian Economy that is expected to attract many of the same people who will attend the "Palestine Investment Conference" hosted by PIC-Palestine in Bethlehem, May 21-23, 2008.
