Booz Allen Named Again to FORTUNE's "Best Companies to Work For" List

It’s the firm’s fourth consecutive recognition by the popular financial magazine.

Booz Allen Hamilton has been named to FORTUNE magazine’s list of the “100 Best Companies to Work For” for the fourth year in a row.

One factor that makes the firm a great place to work, according to FORTUNE, is Booz Allen’s policy of contributing 10% of each employee’s pay into 401(k)s, whether or not the employee contributes.

The magazine also notes that the firm filled over 1,030 new positions in 2007; enjoyed 7% job growth over 2006; and offers sought-after benefits such as a job sharing program, compressed work week, telecommuting, onsite child care, an onsite fitness center, and subsidized gym membership.

One common denominator for most companies on FORTUNE’s list was that all of them “excel in creating jobs,” according to the magazine’s January 22 press release. In addition, the release states that “the 100 companies on the 2008 list added 67,000 employees to their payrolls in the past year and employ a total of nearly 1.6 million.”

To choose the companies for the list, FORTUNE conducted an extensive survey and interviewed almost 100,000 employees at 406 U.S.-based companies. The survey is comprised of 57 questions that ask employees their opinions about management’s credibility, job satisfaction, and the camaraderie at the organization.

Two-thirds of a company’s score is based on survey results, while one-third is based on a “culture audit” that includes questions about pay, benefits, hiring practices, internal communications, training, and diversity efforts.

To be eligible for inclusion on the list, a company must be at least seven years old and employ a minimum of 1,000 people. The full list will appear in the February 4, 2008 issue of FORTUNE and on www.fortune.com.
