Booz Allen Hamilton Continues to Expand and Strengthen its Civil Aviation Practice to Help Achieve NextGen Objectives

Civil aviation experts to focus on the Federal Aviation Administration’s complex NextGen implementation and integration challenges.

McLean, VA, August 17, 2009 – Booz Allen Hamilton today announced an expansion of its civil aviation practice that includes James Manchisi, an aerospace executive, and Fred Messina, an Executive Advisor, reinforcing Booz Allen’s commitment to solving complex NextGen implementation and integration challenges.

Mr. Manchisi will support the systems engineering and integration service area in civil aviation to further boost expertise and know-how to meet the Federal Aviation Administration’s near-term objectives to implement the Next Generation Air Transportation System.  As an officer of the firm, Mr. Manchisi will draw from across the firm’s 5,000 engineers to deploy a  multi-disciplinary team solely devoted to aviation and air traffic management dedicated to helping aviation clients address complex operational, engineering, integration, and infrastructure challenges.

Prior to joining Booz Allen as vice president in the spring of 2006, Mr. Manchisi served as president of the Commercial and Government Systems Division of Eastman Kodak, and president of Space Systems Division of ITT Industries, where he helped implement complex aerospace systems and earned a reputation for successfully facilitating government-industry collaboration.

Mr. Messina, a 25-year veteran of national and international air transportation transformation and modernization efforts, is a respected industry expert in communications, navigation, surveillance and air traffic management (CNS/ATM), and brings client-valued perspectives to the firm’s growing aviation business.

Mr. Messina has held officer and managing director positions at small, medium and large aerospace and defense companies where he specialized in solution implementation, business expansion and customer relations.  Mr. Messina is currently part of the leadership team for the NextGen Mid-Term Implementation Task Force.
