McLean, VA, October 20, 2008 – The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) announced today that the organization will bestow its 2008 Corporate Leadership Award upon Dr. Ralph W. Shrader, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton. The honor will be presented at the 21st Anniversary Awards Dinner at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers on Monday, October 27th.
The Thurgood Marshall Corporate Leadership Award is presented annually to a corporate entity whose record of commitment to public historically black colleges and universities, education, and diversity has advanced the overall mission of developing a new generation of leaders. This award is the highest annual award presented by the TMCF and serves as a model for others to emulate.
Booz Allen has a record of continuing support to TMCF, including comprehensive pro bono consulting services. TMCF President and CEO Dwayne Ashley recently said that, “TMCF measures its success by its impact in the community. Because of Booz Allen’s advice, TMCF has increased its revenues by 700% allowing us to increase our funding for leadership development and scholarships, seminars, and other career-focused instruments for our scholars.”
“Booz Allen has been very instrumental in helping TMCF reposition its structure from strictly a scholarship fund into a talent source organization. The biggest challenge TMCF faces is trying to continue our innovation and relevance in the marketplace and with the help of Booz Allen, TMCF’s new direction has positioned us for a sustainable future,” said Ashley.
The firm’s employees are committed to supporting the organization. Staff members support the TMCF annual leadership development conference for top tier students by providing speakers on topics such as leadership, problem solving, working in corporate America—and advising on the job skills necessary to be successful in the 21st century workforce.
