Booz Allen Huntsville Office Named as a "Best Place to Work"
Since 2006, the firm’s Alabama site has achieved prestigious recognition and substantial growth.
Booz Allen Hamilton’s Huntsville, Alabama office was named one of the region’s “Best Places to Work” by the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County, North Alabama Society for Human Resource Management, and National Children’s Advocacy Center.
The firm was one of 15 local businesses selected from a total of 100 organizations nominated for the award.
“The honor goes to each of our employees for what they contribute to clients, to each other, and to Booz Allen,” says principal Tom Hancock.
Hancock accepted the award on behalf of the firm at a luncheon on April 22, 2008 at Huntsville’s Westin hotel.
Senior vice president Neil Gillespie is aligned with the Huntsville office. “This award reflects well on the great staff we are building in Huntsville, and on the work we are doing in the community,” he says.
The award-winning businesses met a number of criteria, including team effectiveness, retention probability, alignment with goals, trust among co-workers, contributions from individuals, effectiveness of managers, trust in senior leaders, feeling valued, work engagement, and people practices.
In addition, most Booz Allen employees participated in an anonymous survey administered by a market research firm that also tabulated the results. The survey provided staff with an opportunity to express their opinions about their employment with the firm and influenced which organizations were named as award winners.
This is the first time the office has won the award. Although the Huntsville office has grown from 60 to 160 staff members in just two years, Hancock says he hopes the office can compete in the 250-plus “Best Places to Work” category next year.
