Booz Allen to Sponsor College Final Four Chess Championships, Offer Summer Internships to Nation’s Top College Players

March 07, 2012

McLean, VA – Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH) is proud to again sponsor and invite the public to attend the 2012 President’s Cup, the premier college chess event that determines the country’s top intercollegiate chess team, to be held March 31 - April 1 in Herndon, VA. Known as the Final Four of College Chess, the three-round event serves as an elite stage for America’s best collegiate chess teams as they battle for the title of best in the nation. Because the skills required to make a great chess player are some of the same skills needed to solve the world’s toughest problems, Booz Allen will offer members of the final four teams top consideration for summer internships for which they qualify.

“The similarities between chess and our business are clear; they both demand the world’s best strategists, critical thinkers, and decisive leaders to solve complex problems,” said Booz Allen Executive Vice President Mark Herman, who spearheaded the firm’s sponsorship of the United States Chess Federation (USCF) event. “Because we believe that the skills chess players master are critical work skills, we would welcome any qualified players into our summer internship programs,” he added.

Specifically, Booz Allen is recruiting the nation’s top collegiate chess players for internship and co-op positions in Cloud Analytics in the firm’s Washington D.C. area offices. Cloud Analytics – using cloud and related computing technologies to perform sophisticated analysis on data sets in order to help solve complex problems – is an important element of the firm’s Cloud Based Services. Members of the Final Four teams have been invited to submit resumes for this and other summer internship programs for which they are qualified.
