For decades, Booz Allen has supported the world-class athletes of Special Olympics. This international nonprofit provides year-round training and athletic competitions in a variety of sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them opportunities to improve their physical fitness, demonstrate courage, and have fun.
At Special Olympics events nationwide, Booz Allen volunteers are engaged in a variety of ways. Whether taking a Polar Bear Plunge to raise money, cheering on athletes at local games, or serving as board members, our employees are deeply invested in the mission of Special Olympics.
Fifteen-year Booz Allen employee, former Special Olympics Athlete, and former Special Olympics Virginia Board Member David Egan says, “Special Olympics asks people to ‘Be a Fan.’ Being a fan of Special Olympics means being a fan of acceptance, respect, confidence, and self-determination for people with disabilities.” David works on the Core Services Team at Booz Allen’s McLean office, and has been with the firm for 15 years.
Again this year, Booz Allen is a proud sponsor of the 2012 Special Olympics Virginia Winter Championships, to be held at various locations statewide. Joseph Suarez, Executive Advisor, Community Partnerships & Philanthropy, said, “Booz Allen employees have long been committed to the mission and goals of Special Olympics, and show their support throughout the year by volunteering at Special Olympics events, serving on the Special Olympics board, and performing pro-bono work for this terrific nonprofit. We are proud to again be sponsors of Special Olympics Virginia’s Winter Championships.”
