America’s military is at the crossroads. With planned drawdowns overseas, significant budget reductions and data center consolidation efforts, US military organizations are transitioning to a leaner force—both at home and abroad.
Booz Allen Hamilton is helping address these pressing challenges for America’s military in 2012 and beyond. Leveraging our interdisciplinary teams, we have developed two innovative methodologies to transform traditional approaches to Information Technology (IT) and ensure greater mission success.
With our comprehensive RightIT™ methodology, Booz Allen is able to help clients improve IT operations and acquire the services they need at the right cost. In fact, RightIT™ can cut IT costs by as much as 30 to 40 percent. Booz Allen helped a defense acquisition program redesign their IT infrastructure using consolidation, virtualization, and cloud computing technologies. RightIT™ saved the program $6 million in hosting and licensing costs, decreased maintenance downtime by 75 percent, and reduced the program’s IT footprint by 83 percent.
In August, Booz Allen hosted a RightIT™ roundtable at the San Diego Daily Transcript. Senior executives and chief information officers from a variety of industries and government agencies discussed the importance of efficient and effective IT infrastructure in the current economic situation.
In addition, Booz Allen’s integrated Mission Engineering® platform provides an analytical framework for identifying gaps and redundancies in each aspect of an organization’s mission, as well as providing the necessary rigor to requirements evaluation and determination of capability and Program of Record (POR) interdependences. This results in the identification of critical operational issues and associated actionable recommendations that are prioritized and serve as a roadmap for continuous operational improvement.
Military veterans and wounded warriors are also at a crossroads, as they reintegrate into civilian life.
Booz Allen has long supported our nation’s veterans and wounded warriors through a variety of forums and programs, including those in the San Diego area. Vice Adm. (Ret.) Tim LaFleur, a Principal with Booz Allen in San Diego who served as Commander of Naval Surface Forces from 2001 to 2005, has spearheaded many of these efforts, such as a veterans summer sports clinic. This program helps newly injured service members learn adaptive sports and recreational activities.
We have also held community-based summits focusing on military personnel and veterans and the challenges they face. And in November, we participated in a San Diego Daily Transcript roundtable discussion which highlighted ways to better serve our veterans and their families.
As a strategic AFCEA partner, Booz Allen is also honored to sponsor the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team that will be playing at Petco Park Tuesday evening, January 24.
The Wounded Warriors will face off against AFCEA West VIPs. Learn more about the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team.
This year at AFCEA West 2012, Booz Allen is providing our booth space to many of the non-profits which help veterans, wounded warriors and military families. Organizations such as the Paralyzed Veterans Association, United through Reading, Coalition to Salute America's Heroes, and Dystonia Support & Advocacy Group of San Diego County will be on hand to discuss their vital work and attract new volunteers and supporters.
Through our programs and work with non-profits, Booz Allen is giving back to our nation’s military veterans and their families. Visit Booth #222 to find out how you can help too. You can also follow the conversation on Twitter at #West12. View a map of the floor plan.
