The HITECH Act provides massive funding for the overall transformation of the healthcare system by promoting the use of health IT. From a public health perspective, broader implementation of HIEs will give us increased access to critical data, provide new ways of looking at population data, and help us improve the ability to protect the public’s overall health.”
