For more than a decade GLOBE —Booz Allen's diversity forum for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender staff—has helped make the firm a welcoming and inclusive workplace. Today, the firm is widely known as an industry leader in LGBT issues. In fact, the Human Rights Campaign honored Booz Allen with a 100 percent rating on its Corporate Equality Index, citing such efforts as:
The firm’s support of the LGBT community extends beyond workplace equality into helping identify and remove the barriers LGBT individuals face in every aspect of their lives. Such as the bullying and harassment many in the LGBT community face as young people.
Booz Allen’s “It Gets Better” video recognizes National Anti-Bullying Month, National Coming Out Day, and the Trevor Project. Created and produced by Booz Allen employees, the video is another example of our employees living out their shared values and making a difference in the workplace and in their communities.
GLOBE partners with other employee forums to raise awareness of social and workplace barriers and shared issues. Recently, GLOBE and the Parents’ Forum presented a webinar on the firm’s adoption benefits.
The firm has built strong relationships with nonprofits nationwide, including Reaching Out MBA, Out and Equal, Out for Undergraduate Business, PFLAG, and Metro TeenAIDS. Booz Allen is the top corporate sponsor for the DC AIDS walk, supporting the Whitman-Walker Clinic—the largest provider of HIV/AIDS services in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
To produce the “It Gets Better” video, Associate Michael Dumlao led a collaborative effort involving members of GLOBE, the firm’s senior leaders, the Creative Solutions team, and staff from across Booz Allen.
