The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Network Operations Warfare Facility (NOWF) is a defense laboratory that develops and tests technologies for military networks, applications, and satellite communications.
Developing technologies that can provide strategic or tactical advantages to U.S. forces requires technical expertise and practical military knowledge. Many commercial communications technologies must be adapted to military standards for security, interoperability, and reliability.
NOWF partnered with Booz Allen Hamilton to identify, prototype, test, and deliver innovative IT and satellite technology solutions for deployed U.S. military forces. The firm’s systems engineering process can deliver quick reaction capabilities (QRC), and has been essential for getting cutting-edge commercial technologies out of the lab and into the battlefield.
The team has critical expertise in IT and systems engineering, integration, and emerging technologies to develop end-to-end system designs that leverage wireless, SATCOM, and terrestrial infrastructures. In addition, Booz Allen’s military advisors have operational experience in communications.
The firm collaborates with DISA to build logistics, telemedicine, high-speed data transmission, and other solutions essential to the military’s vision of network-centric warfare. Booz Allen has also integrated commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) equipment to meet near-term requirements and obtain security accreditation, and helped perform beta testing.
Since 1999, Booz Allen has supported DISA in accelerating the delivery of sophisticated technologies and satellite services to the battlefield, often within three to twelve months from concept. Today, the Department of Defense is taking many of these battle-ready solutions to other military programs.
