Our Work
Booz Allen has experience that cuts across all modes of transportation and is working on a range of intelligent transportation projects. We are providing smart fare card systems for transit riders, analysis of the viability of congestion pricing for congestion-clogged cities and expertise on specific transportation technologies such as sensors, closed-circuit cameras and telematics communication equipment built into vehicles. Booz Allen is a key technology partner and lead system integrator for the US DOT’s premier Vehicle Infrastructure Integration (VII) initiative. The 15th World Congress on ITS selected Booz Allen to present demonstration projects on its VII work.

- Transportation Operations – Booz Allen transportation consultants assist transit and highway agencies and other clients in devising operations strategies that utilize smart technologies to improve sourcing and procurement, planning and innovation, asset optimization, and transportation safety and security.
- Evacuation Planning and Operations – Booz Allen supports the planning and execution of evacuations with strategic decision-making and management tools, data collection, analysis and simulation and operational expertise in strategic communications, special needs, multimodal transportation and shelter during an evacuation.
- Transportation Technology – Booz Allen, a technology and management consultant with its own research capabilities, offers independent advice on emerging solutions for transportation including positioning and wireless technologies, smart cards, systems integration and support, hybrid vehicles and alternative fuels and advanced rail systems.
- Vehicle Infrastructure Integration – Booz Allen engineered new dedicated short-range communication equipment for the US DOT initiative and built the infrastructure for the VII network. The project is a cooperative venture between government and the auto industry to develop technology and a nationwide communications network allowing vehicles to communicate with roadside infrastructure and other vehicles to improve highway safety and mobility.
- Advanced Vehicle Systems – Booz Allen helps government agencies and research programs improve transportation efficiency, safety, energy consumption and emissions, with project management, cost-benefit analysis, vehicle evaluation, alternative fuel studies, automotive and bus engineering, bus maintenance and overhaul, and Smart Bus technologies.
- Commercial Motor Vehicles – Booz Allen works with fleet managers and the federal government to analyze high-impact technology and operational and safety issues related to commercial motor vehicles, leveraging experience in vehicle engineering, transportation operations, safety outcome analysis, and transportation technologies including ITS and safety systems.
- Information Technology for Transportation – Booz Allen is a leading information technology consultant offering services, such as system engineering and integration and networking solutions that underpin transportation systems, as well as guidance on broad operational, security, service and budget problems for transit and transportation authorities.
- Electronic Payment and Revenue Systems – Booz Allen advises transit agencies on fare policy and strategy issues, system analysis and financing, business planning, system definition and business rules, innovative equipment and services, and procurement strategies.
- Congestion Pricing – Booz Allen has worked with transportation authorities around the world to develop strategies, prepare the business case and develop plans to implement pricing structures that would reduce congestion and vehicle emissions, and generate new financing to support highway infrastructure as gasoline tax and other revenue sources decline.
