Creating a culture of preparedness is often best achieved through public, private, and non-profit collaboration.
In recognition of National Preparedness Month, Booz Allen Hamilton hosted "Preparedness Day: Are You Ready for What's Next?" on September 11, 2009. Throughout the day, employees participated in a series of events focused on personal preparedness, corporate responsibility, business assurance, and emergency management.
The day began with a panel of distinguished public, private, and non-profit national preparedness leaders who discussed the roles of individuals, businesses, communities, and government in creating a culture of national preparedness. Senior Vice President Jack Mayer moderated the panel discussion.
The panel included:
The panel event also featured video remarks by Chairman and CEO Dr. Ralph Shrader and Mayer in remembrance of the lives lost on September 11, 2001.
“Preparedness is part of our DNA at Booz Allen,” Jack Mayer said as part of his introductory remarks. “This is evidenced through our work with the federal government on the national preparedness mission; through the volunteerism of our staff and firm preparing our communities; and through our commitment to each other in being resilient and ready as individual professionals and as a firm.”
After the panel, guests and Booz Allen staff were encouraged to participate in the McLean Personal Preparedness Fair. The fair focused on the various aspects of personal disaster, emergency, and public health preparedness, including:
