At Booz Allen, our solutions feature smart strategies across the supply chain continuum: from design of the physical network—to supply, demand, and capacity planning—to warehousing and distribution.

We work with clients to put lasting plans in place that allow them to quickly adapt to adverse elements and continue operations without disruption.

Booz Allen provides the following Supply Chain Strategy services:

  • Transportation and Distribution. We work with clients to develop breakthrough strategies for transporting, warehousing, and distributing goods and products. Our approach includes addressing issues such as the appropriate location of manufacturing and distribution center locations, optimal use of transportation lanes and modes, storage and transportation capacity requirements, and flow of goods through the physical network to achieve the lowest total network costs given a desired customer service level target.
  • 3PL Outsourcing Selection. We conduct analyses to determine whether it is best for an organization to maintain ownership over its warehouse and distribution assets and function, or to outsource to a logistics provider that specializes in this area. If a determination to outsource is made, we make a list of potential outsource providers, develop a request for proposal (RFP), evaluate responses to the RFP, and lead the in-source to outsource transition.
  • Inventory Optimization. We help clients determine the correct quantities of cycle stock, safety stock, and in-transit stocks, including locations within the network for storing the inventory based on many factors (e.g., demand volumes and variability; supply lead-time and variability).
  • Risk, Vulnerability, and Resilience. We analyze supply chains to determine vulnerabilities attributed to factors such as the following: geopolitical risk, weather, distribution disruptions (e.g., union strikes), and shortages of supply. To maintain customer service levels, we develop and implement recommendations for improving monitoring techniques and mitigation strategies to effectively deal with these vulnerabilities.
  • Green Supply Chain. We develop techniques to lower a supply chain’s carbon footprint, reclaim and dispose of hazardous products (known as “reverse logistics”), and check sources of supply to validate material, ensuring that it complies with country import and export requirements.
