Emergency Management and Response Agencies

Mission Support for Federal Emergency Management

Our nation’s federal emergency management agencies have not just one daunting task, but several. They must protect our nation’s critical infrastructure, and help state and local governments prepare for and respond to disasters and other emergencies. The agencies must also collaborate with government, academia, and the private sector to combat the growing cyber threats to our nation’s economic and national security.

Booz Allen Hamilton supports federal emergency management in each of these critical missions.

We support federal emergency management agencies as they develop strategic plans, training programs and course development, and provide guidance in developing and coordinating disaster-planning exercises.

Booz Allen provides broad support to federal emergency management in:

  • Preparedness—This area focuses on whether we are ready to deal with disasters, either natural or man-made, and what steps we should take to plan and train for those events. Booz Allen assists with strategic preparedness policy planning, helping to outline the government’s national disaster preparedness priorities. Booz Allen’s deep expertise in scenario planning helps develop an understanding of how the federal government might need to support state and local governments as they respond to disasters. We also support their efforts to test the capabilities and plans of federal, state and local agencies, capturing lessons learned to promote continuous improvement and capability building.
  • Mitigation—Booz Allen helps our federal emergency management clients identify ways to lessen the impact of possible future disasters. Specifically, we work with our clients to design and deploy sophisticated, reliable redundancy and resiliency models to ensure continuity of critical infrastructure in the event of an emergency.
  • Response—During a disaster, Booz Allen provides planning support.  We also provide “surge support”—sending in expert staff to assist federal emergency management workers when needed. In addition, we assist with emergency communications and field-level crisis action planning.
  • Recovery—Booz Allen provides broad support, such as helping our federal emergency management clients administer federal disaster recovery grants, and partnering with them to develop training for disaster workers who assist special-needs citizens.
