Booz Allen Honored for Creating a Diverse and Innovative Workplace

The U.S. Department of Labor honored Booz Allen Hamilton for its commitment to enhancing equal employment opportunities for minorities, women, individuals with disabilities, and veterans.

The Employment Standards Administration Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs presented the firm with the 2001 Exemplary Voluntary Efforts — or EVE Award — at an October 18, 2001, ceremony.

"Support for diversity and diversity-related programs is deeply rooted in the company — as can be seen it its 'people programs'," said Deputy Assistant Secretary for Federal Contract Compliance Charles James Sr.

"Some companies have a niche — they're a great place for women to work, for example," said Booz Allen's Senior Director of Recruiting, "but it's a very small group of companies that are recognized as being employers of choice for women, parents, people of color, former military personnel, and disabled individuals."

Earlier this month, Booz Allen was named to Working Mother magazine's list of "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers" for the third consecutive year and was featured in Washingtonian magazine's issues on "Great Places to Work."
