On June 28, 2004, Profiles in Diversity Journal announced that Booz Allen Hamilton was among the ten recipients of its first annual International Innovation in Diversity Award. Other honorees include BMO Financial Group, Bausch & Lomb, and Eastman Kodak Co.

Profiles in Diversity Journal presents the International Innovation in Diversity Award to companies, organization, and institutions around the world that have developed innovative solutions that offer measurable outcomes in the area of workforce diversity and inclusion.
"This award reflects our goal to be innovative and approach diversity change in different and new ways," said Booz Allen Principal and Director of Diversity Patrick McLaurin. "We feel we are making real progress in our efforts, and it is great to receive recognition that our methods and strategy really are innovative."
Booz Allen was saluted for its firm-wide Board Diversity Initiative (BDI), which was launched in January 2003. The goal of the initiative is to build the staff's diversity knowledge and skills — accounting for regional, cultural, and social differences.
