Falls Church, VA, November 12, 1998—Five leading metropolitan-area companies received Northern Virginia Family Service's sixth annual CARE (Companies As Responsive Employers) Award.
Adoption incentives, diversity training, and employee assistance programs were just some of the tools that caught the attention of the CARE Awards nominating committee.
The CARE Award recognizes companies of all sizes in Northern Virginia that are leaders in implementing family supportive benefits and policies to promote a healthy work-life balance among employees. Research has demonstrated significant bottom-line benefits to companies that have put family-friendly policies in place. These include higher employee morale, savings in medical costs, and lower turnover.
According to Michael Gordon, president of C.C. Pace Systems, Inc., winner in the Small Company category, The belief at C.C. Pace Systems is that the company's greatest work-life benefit is more a matter of corporate culture than a specific policy.'
Ralph Shrader, president of Booz Allen Hamilton, winner in the Large Company category, stated, 'A hallmark of our employee programs is respect for the individual. We make programs—ranging from health care benefits to training to community service—diverse in their appeal.'
