Mentoring Can Drive Your Career Success
At Booz Allen Hamilton, managing your career is a partnership between you and your manager.
You will drive your career by seeking out growth opportunities and by taking advantage of professional development through activities, training, and building mentoring relationships that will help you stretch your existing skill set. Your manager will play an active role in your development, and will be assessed against his/her people development skills.
Booz Allen’s culture promotes an open exchange of feedback. We help each other develop and grow as professionals. Engaging with multiple mentors is just one way for you to receive support in your career.
Booz Allen’s Approach to Mentoring
The tradition of mentoring dates back to the start of the firm, with Edwin Booz promoting mentoring and apprenticeship in the founding years.
Our current approach to mentoring is dynamic. We offer formal mentoring programs and also encourage informal mentoring.
Mentoring relationships at Booz Allen can be short or long term as well as structured or unstructured. We also encourage multiple mentoring relationships to provide diverse perspectives and options on how best to navigate your career with the firm.
“Most employees reach out to many people and form a network of mentors,” says vice president Fred Knops. “This is great for the individual, and also strengthens the firm by connecting staff to the culture and allowing best practices to be shared.”
