Staff Honored at 2006 Black Engineer of the Year Awards Conference

Staff are recognized as role models in the fields of science, engineering, and technology.

Five of Booz Allen Hamilton's engineers and technologists were honored at the 20th annual Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) ceremony held in Baltimore, Maryland, on February 18, 2006.

"You can't help but be impressed with the accomplishments of our winners," said Vice President Ron Hodge. "The competition is intense—from captains of industry to inventors of earth-changing innovations and philanthropic leaders. Having five Booz Allen winners speaks volumes about the expertise of our people and the value our firm places in achievement."

Pioneer Award Winner

Reggie Van LeeSenior Vice President Reggie Van Lee received BEYA's Pioneer Award in recognition of his many professional achievements and distinguished service to not-for-profit organizations. The Pioneer Award is given annually to individuals who have made professional gains in fields that may have been previously not occupied by African Americans.

Van Lee has a built a distinguished record of achievement in the marketplace. Outside Booz Allen, he works tirelessly to support worthy organizations focused on the community, education and diversity; mentors students; and initiates Booz Allen programs to provide pro bono technology and management consulting to non-government and community organizations.

GEM Student Leadership Award Winner

Norina DixonAssociate Norina Dixon received the GEM (National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science, Inc.) Student Leadership Award as an engineering student who has carried her status as an outstanding academic achiever into the professional world. At Booz Allen, Dixon supervises a team of software developers, mentors junior team members, and is an expert in object-oriented software development.

Modern Day Technology Leaders

Associate Adrian Moore and Senior Consultants Kareem Brown and Nick Rhodes were honored as Modern Day Technology Leader Winners. This group of honorees were selected for their work in shaping the technology and science of the future.
