Natalie M. Givans

Booz Allen Hamilton Senior Vice President Natalie Givans is a leader in the firm’s defense business, with a focus on military health. She has 30 years of experience in system security engineering, cybersecurity, information and mission assurance, as well as in communications, information, and transmission security. She has four years of experience with civilian and military health care including Health IT systems, privacy and security, and electronic health record systems and standards. She is a subject matter expert in the defense, national security, civilian agency, and health domains, and a senior leader in the firm’s military health subaccount.
Ms. Givans is focused on several key areas for the firm:
- Leading overall Military Health System and Defense Health IT business portfolio for the firm
- Driving IT, cyber, and enterprise architecture technology offerings, integrated electronic health record (iEHR), and virtual lifetime electronic record (VLER) solutions into the Military Health System
- Leading cybersecurity and privacy solutions for the firm's health market
She provides privacy and security services integrated into the firm's CMMI, system engineering, and acquisition lifecycles. Four major service offerings include:
- Security programs, policy, and compliance
- Security architecture and engineering
- Cybersecurity operations
- Mission assurance/enterprise resilience
Ms. Givans was an active member of the System Security Engineering Capability Maturity Model (SSE-CMM) project, focused on ensuring that security is integrated into all acquisition and systems development lifecycles from their conception. She was an author of the SSE-CMM, which obtained its approval as ISO Standard 21827.
Ms. Givans chaired the Board of Directors for AFCEA International from 2010 to 2012, and was the first Vice Chairman from 2008-2010. She has been a member for 28 years, serving in a variety of roles including Member of the Board of the Educational Foundation, Member of the Board of the Building Services Corporation, and a Board Director. She was a member of the MIT Alumni Association Board of Directors, serving on the Finance Committee and establishing an ad hoc committee on Energy, Environment and Sustainability the Alumni Association Selection Committee, and various roles for her class including two 5-year terms as Class President. Ms. Givans also serves on the John Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering (WSE) National Advisory Council. She was named Engineer of the Year by the District of Columbia Council of Engineering and Architectural Societies for 2009 and one of Diversity Journal’s Women Worth Watching in 2011. She was a Fed 100 Winner in 2012.
She is a member of the Booz Allen Excellence Awards Committee and the Booz Allen Women's Leadership Initiative. Ms. Givans is the firm's sponsor for the MIT Industrial Liaison Program, the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, the Society of Women Engineers and its Corporate Partnership Council, and the Girl Scouts of America, including the “Make the Connection” program, and Environmental Leadership Institute program.
Ms. Givans holds a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from MIT, and an M.S. degree in electrical engineering from the Johns Hopkins University.
