
"Paul Mayberry, a Herndon, VA-based Booz Allen Hamilton Vice President, is a senior leader of the firm’s strategy and organization business with an emphasis in the learning domain. Dr. Mayberry serves as an adjunct faculty for the firm’s Change Management Advanced Practitioner (CMAP) course, a joint venture between Booz Allen Hamilton and Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.
Prior to Booz Allen, Dr. Mayberry served as the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Readiness. Appointed in 2001, he led the strategy development and implementation of the multi-billion dollar Joint Training Transformation program, the revamping of the Defense Readiness Reporting System, and the expansion of and standards development for the government-wide Advanced Distributed Learning initiative.
Dr. Mayberry also served in several other senior-level policy positions within the defense and national security communities: Special Assistant to the Under Secretary of Defense (Personnel and Readiness), Special Assistant to Under Secretary of Army, and Department of Navy Director of Manpower and Training.
Earlier in his career, he spent 17 years with the Center for Naval Analyses (CNA) in which he conducted a comprehensive research program focused on force readiness and manpower issues. He completed two field tours as an operations analyst with Navy and Marine forces in the Pacific Fleet. Dr. Mayberry has produced an extensive portfolio of published works, professional presentations, and Congressional testimony.
In recognition of his considerable defense accomplishments, Dr. Mayberry received DoD’s highest civilian award, the Secretary of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service. Similarly, he has been awarded the Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service and a Joint Meritorious Unit Award for his service in the Office of the Secretary of Defense after the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the Pentagon.
Dr. Mayberry has a B.S. degree with Highest Honors in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of North Carolina and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Quantitative Psychology from the University of Illinois.
