
Based at Booz Allen Hamilton’s Herndon, Virginia office, Senior Vice President Tom Fuhrman delivers science, engineering, cyber security, and innovation services to Air Force and other Defense clients, and is responsible for Booz Allen’s Air Force Research Laboratory business.
As a business leader, Mr. Fuhrman leverages more than 30 years of military and government experience to help clients tackle their toughest challenges. Additionally, he is a functional expert in multiple areas, including:
Prior to joining Booz Allen, Mr. Fuhrman served as a member of the staff of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), where he assisted the President’s science advisor in setting and articulating national priorities for science and technology, and in carrying out critical continuity programs and National Security and Emergency Preparedness communications responsibilities.
Mr. Fuhrman completed a 20+ year career with the U.S. Air Force, where he served in a variety of flying, program management, and policy assignments. He is a graduate of the Air Force Test Pilot School, and he has flown more than 26 aircraft types, including the SR-71 Blackbird.
Author of the OSTP publication, Cybernation: The American Infrastructure in the Information Age, Mr. Fuhrman is a frequent invited speaker at conferences on cyber security and other defense topics. He holds a U.S. patent for an automatic digital information acquisition system.
Mr. Fuhrman holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from California State University, and a master’s in electrical engineering and bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering and mathematics from Purdue University. He also received a national defense fellowship at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
