Mike Jones
Based in McLean, Booz Allen Hamilton Vice President Mike Jones leads the firm’s North American aerospace and defense strategy effort, and he is officer-in-charge of Booz Allen’s initiative to build and scale its operations capabilities into the U.S. government market.
One of the firm’s leading experts and practitioners, Mr. Jones works with senior executives to shape and execute broad restructuring and repositioning agendas across the aerospace and defense market. He has undertaken major transformation programs to significantly improve business performance for helicopters, fighters, aircraft, tankers, land combat vehicles, submarines, destroyers, and satellite and space launch programs.
In recognition of their outstanding and innovative client service, Mr. Jones and his team received Booz Allen’s Professional Excellence Award for their work on a project for General Dynamics – Bath Iron Works.
Mr. Jones has leveraged his extensive experience to assist the world’s premier aerospace and defense companies across diverse platforms, and supported senior U.S. government clients, including the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps and Department of Homeland Security, on extensive change programs. Examples of key assignments include:

Evaluated five-year trends in core and peripheral markets for a $6 billion major satellite prime contractor, to assess competitive positioning across the space value chain and make recommendations to adjust markets, investments, and competitive positioning

Analyzed market trends, competitors, and buying behaviors within the DoD and intelligence markets for system engineering and integration disciplines for a major shipbuilder prime contractor; developed an acquisition framework and detailed valuations of major players and alternative moves

Developed a comprehensive change management program for military helicopters faced with declining volumes and competitive pricing for a $2 billion prime contractor; change agenda included plans and strategies to effect performance envelopes for direct labor productivity, design, overhead cost structure, capital investment, and structural sourcing strategies

Led an integration strategy team for the Department of Homeland Security that developed department-wide management processes including strategic planning, budgeting, performance and IT management, acquisition, and other processes
Mr. Jones is a recognized though leader and the author of the Booz Allen studies "ISSR: What Drives (Your) Program Costs? Achieving Step-Change Reduction on Department of Defense Platforms" and "1% IT in Aerospace and Defense – Reducing Costs While Increasing Capability."
Previous employers include Philip Morris USA, Hoffman La-Roche, and ICI Americas, where his roles included senior operations and process engineering. Mr. Jones holds an MBA in finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a B.S. in chemical engineering from Cornell University.
