We have carefully selected our teammates—which include a SDVOSB, a VOSB, 8(a), and minority-owned small businesses—to support the requirements of the PTSS BPA. Our teaming partners bring expertise from current VHA engagements to bear in this support effort.
Booz Allen has a long and proud tradition of supporting small businesses. Firmwide, Booz Allen increased VOSB participation by 290 percent and SDVOSB participation by 363 percent from FY05 to FY09. Booz Allen was recently nominated for the Disabled American Veterans Large Employer of the Year award in 2011, demonstrating our commitment to developing long-lasting relationships. In addition, for the past 3 years, Booz Allen has served as a Platinum Sponsor at the National Veteran-Owned Small Business Conference and Expo held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Booz Allen’s attendance at and key participation in this conference has led to a number of successful endeavors with SDVOSBs and VOSBs. It has also allowed Booz Allen to share a number of firmwide best practices with SDVOSBs and VOSBs through matchmaking sessions. In addition, we have leveraged lessons learned and best practices from these sessions when developing our Mentor-Protégé agreements.
To ensure we maintain active SDVOSB and VOSB participation, we will implement best practice strategies, including assigning meaningful roles to our SDVOSB and VOSB colleagues to ensure they are empowered to lead or support substantial portions of the work. We will also monitor their strategic and technical progress through routine quality assurance checks and internal and external progress reviews.
By selecting the Booz Allen team to provide the full spectrum of services required under this BPA, VHA is selecting strategy and technology consulting experts who understand that providing effective support services is more than providing talented people—it requires that people, processes, policies, and systems are integrated to function as a whole. We have supported VHA and OHI in a broad range of initiatives in which we have continued to build our long-term relationships and deep understanding of the VHA environment.
